It was my pleasure and privilege to join Narration’s Stephen Ryan to discuss all things Spike Island, tourism marketing and my career to date.
I shared with Stephen how I made a move to the UK in my early twenties, following a college dropout. Hard graft saw me work my way up to senior management roles, and make up for lost time by travelling over fifty countries. We discussed how on my return to Ireland, I made a move from retail to tourism attraction management with Spike Island, launching a historic brand.
Been an expert on all things marketing, Stephen was fascinated to hear how we used creative marketing to extend the reach of our modest marketing budget, landing visits from the Discovery Channel, Channel 5 and more. We also had many successful influencer tie ins, but none more so than U.S duo Sam and Colby, whose fun takes on visiting spooky sites produced a video that now has more than 10 million views and counting.
